The FAQ’s

Why is custom photography so expensive?

If you’ve ever run your own business or know someone that has, then you know how much time and money that it requires.  There are so many things- big and little, that add up so quickly. But these are essential; You can’t be a photographer without a good professional quality camera. You can’t edit the images  without a good, fast computer and editing program. You can’t present your work without professional materials; boxes, bags, ribbons, biz cards, etc. And you can’t share your work online in a professional manner without a blog, website, or an online store.

There’s a great article that gives an incredible break down of why custom photography cost so much more than your typical stuffy, “mass produced,” “mass marketed,” corporate “everyone is a number” studio. If you would like to read that follow this link, www.professionalchildphotographer.com/information/?page_id=16

How much does it cost?

Please visit the investment page under details, but on average clients anticipate investing around $150-$300 for their custom portrait session, prints/products

Do you offer a CD with all of my proofs and printing rights?

I do offer a CD with all final enhanced proofs and printing rights. They can be purchased in 3 different options.

  • Option #1 -All inclusive digital files $200.00
  • Option #2- All inclusive digital files with the purchase of any collection, $100.00
  • Option #3- Individual files with the purchase of any collection $25.00

How long does this process take?

Here’s a time-line for a typical session:

  • Time varies from the time you book your appointment until actual session occurs. This depends on your schedule and my work load
  • 30 mins-3 hours – the session itself
  • 1-2 weeks after the session, you’ll get to see your custom proofs either online or in a post consultation face-to-face
  • 1 wk to choose your final prints, products, or digital files for CD
  • 1-2 weeks after all design work/revisions are done, you’ll get a phone call/email to schedule your pick up or to let you know your order is in the mail (specialty items may require a longer delivery time)

What should I/we wear to the session? How can I pick the right clothing?
I will send you a complete clothing guide when you book your session.  If you still want help, I’d be happy to look over all of the clothing options at the session itself to help you decide what outfits will look the best on you and in your images.

Some of the stores I recommend are Forever 21, H&M, Charlotte Russe, Old Navy, and Target
